산업통상자원부 안덕근 장관은 3월 8일(금) 15시 서울에서 덴마크 기후·에너지·유틸리티부 라스 아가드(Lars Aagaard) 장관과 제12차 한-덴마크 녹색성장동맹(GGA : Green Growth Alliance) 회의를 개최하고 해양풍력, 수소 등 양국 간 청정에너지 협력 방안을 논의하였다.

  양국은 2011년 GGA를 체결한 이래 연례적으로 각료급 회의를 개최하여 친환경 산업, 해운, 금융에 이르기까지 다양한 분야에서 녹색협력을 발전시켜 왔으며, 금번 회의에서는 친환경 에너지 협력을 주로 논의하였다.

  우선, 안덕근 장관은 다양한 무탄소 에너지(CFE)를 활용해 효과적으로 탄소중립을 추진하자는 우리 정부의 CFE 이니셔티브를 소개하고 탄소중립 이행 선도국인 덴마크와 CFE 확산에 있어 긴밀한 협력을 희망한다고 강조하였다.

  이어서 해상풍력 분야에서는 덴마크의 발전 경험 및 노하우와 한국의 우수한 제조 기반을 접목시켜 상호보완적 협력을 확대시켜 나가는 한편, 양국 모두 탄소중립의 주요 수단으로 해상풍력 보급 확대를 적극 추진 중인 만큼, 주민 수용성 문제에 대한 정책 대응 등 관련 경험도 공유하기로 하였다.

  또한, 수소 분야에서는 양국 기업 간 산업·기술협력을 확대해나가는 한편, 안정적이고 경제성 있는 글로벌 수소 공급망 구축을 위해 공조하기로 하였다. 덴마크는 선진 풍력기술을 토대로 한 미래 그린 수소 생산국으로 주목받고 있는바, 해당 분야에서의 양국 간 협력이 기대된다.

  아울러, 양국은 금번 회의 계기에 탄소중립 및 신산업 협력을 위해 2018년 체결한 “재생에너지 및 신에너지 산업 협력 양해각서(MOU)”를 “청정에너지 및 신에너지 산업 협력 양해각서(MOU)”로 확대 개편하여 서명하였다. 이를 통해, 수소·에너지 효율 등에서도 협력을 확대하여 양국 간 청정에너지 분야 협력을 더욱 강화하기로 하였다.

  한편, 금번 GGA 회의 계기에 한-덴「수소 연구개발(R&D) 심포지움」 및 「풍력 비즈니스 컨퍼런스」(3.6(수))를 개최하고, 청정에너지 협력에서 핵심 분야인 수소·해상풍력 등에서 양국 민·관 산업 협력 강화 방안을 논의하였다.

On Friday, 8 March, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, Dukgeun Ahn, and Danish Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities, Lars Aagaard, met in Seoul for the 12th Korea-Denmark Green Growth Alliance (GGA) to engage in constructive discussions on bilateral clean energy cooperation. 

Since its inception in 2011, the Green Growth Alliance (GGA) has been a platform to foster bilateral cooperation in sectors including green industry, shipping, and finance through annual ministerial meetings. This year's Green Growth Alliance meeting was centered on discussing clean energy cooperation, with a keen focus on offshore wind and hydrogen.

Minister Ahn highlighted Korea's commitment to promoting carbon neutrality by emphasizing the need to mobilize all available carbon-free energy (CFE) sources. Moreover, he expressed his eagerness to collaborate with Denmark, a country renowned for its expertise in carbon neutrality implementation, to raise awareness about the importance of expanding the deployment of carbon-free energy.

Both ministers also agreed to expand cooperation in offshore wind power by combining Denmark's extensive expertise in power generation and Korea's strong manufacturing capabilities. In addition, they committed to sharing their relevant experiences, including policy responses to the issue of public acceptance, in an effort to promote offshore wind as a viable pathway towards achieving carbon neutrality.

The two countries agreed to expand industrial and technological cooperation on a private level in the hydrogen sector and work together to build a stable and economical global hydrogen supply chain. Denmark, renowned for its advanced wind power technology, is a future green hydrogen producer, and it is envisaged that bilateral cooperation in this field will facilitate the exchange of ideas and expertise and foster a fruitful partnership between the two nations.

Furthermore, the two countries renewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation in the clean energy and new energy industry to include more areas of cooperation. To this end, both Ministers agreed to strengthen collaboration in hydrogen and energy efficiency.

During the Danish minister's visit, the two countries also held the Korean-Denmark Hydrogen R&D Symposium and the Korea-Denmark Offshore Wind Business Conference, in an effort to expand public and private cooperation in key clean energy sectors like hydrogen and offshore wind.
