09 - 11 April 2018 □ Organiser: Climate Technology Centre and Network The forum took place in Nairobi, Kenya. The CTCN conducts a series of Regional Forums to provide opportunities for NDEs, Network Members and climate technology stakeholders to meet and discuss some of the key issues and share experiences. The Africa Forum was jointly organized with the UNEP- DTU TNA project for National Coordinators of Africa Region and back-to-back with the 2018 African Carbon Forum (11-13 April 2018). The whole week was designated as Africa Climate Week and featured meetings, side events and workshops related to technology mechanism and other important topics of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The main objectives of the CTCN Regional Forum were to present the latest development of CTCN services in the region; share national and regional experiences and best practices from CTCN technical assistance in the region; strengthen linkages between the CTCN support and the Technology Need Assessment(TNAs) / Technology Action Plans (TAPs); and provide inputs to the Technical Examination Process and Talanoa Dialogue in a manner that promotes enhanced ambition. The CTCN invited NDEs from 47 African countries, TNA coordinators for Phase 2 countries, selected network members and NDEs from Annex 1 countries. On 13 April, the CTCN organized a one-day Technical Expert Meeting (TEM) focusing on Industrial Energy Efficiency on 13 April, during the Africa Carbon Forum. The regional technical expert meeting is organized in the context of the technical examination process started by Parties to the UNFCCC in 2014 as a follow-up action to energy efficiency policy options and opportunities identified in the previous technical expert meetings. The focus of the Nairobi meeting was on specific policy options and opportunities that are actionable in the short term. The objective of this meeting was to discuss actionable solutions to address barriers and needs in the context of energy and material efficiency improvements in industry, including circular economy models.
