About this reportBetween 1980 and 2023, global surface temperatures increased by around 0.2 °C per decade. Along with global warming, weather extremes have become more intense and frequent, a pattern expected to continue through the century. Many countries are already experiencing the impact of climate change and extreme weather events on their energy systems. Rising temperatures, changing precipitation and wind patterns, sea level rise and tropical cyclones are impacting every part of the energy system, presenting significant challenges for affected nations. This series of National Climate Resilience Assessments provides a standardised evaluation of the current and future risks to a country’s energy system while identifying measures to enhance resilience to climate impacts and other risks of disruption. |
