Decreasing food security is accelerated by a long negative trend in the productivity of the Gambian farming community which adds to the insecurity of the poor both in rural and urban areas. A key objective of the Department of Forestry is to create a break in the negative circular causation between poverty and environmental destruction. The Department aims to empower local communities to own and manage forest resources within their customary lands as a strategy to maintain and sustainably use these resources. However, due to lack of knowledge of rural communities and bad practices, some valuable bee products are often spoiled or simply disposed of without benefiting from them. 배경
감비아(Gambia) 농업 공동체의 생산력이 장기적으로 부정적인 영향을 보임으로써 농촌 및 도시 지역 모두에서 빈곤층의 불안을 더하게 되었고, 식량 안보가 점점 더 빠르게 줄어들게 되었다. 산림부(Department of Forestry)의 주요 목표는 가난과 환경적 파괴 사이의 부정적으로 순환하는 인과관계를 끊는 것에 있다. 해당 부처는 산림 자원을 유지하고 지속 가능하게 사용하려는 전략으로서 지역 공동체가 그들의 관례적인 토지 내에서 이러한 자원을 소유하고 관리하도록 권한을 부여하고자 한다. 그러나, 농촌 공동체의 지식 부족과 나쁜 관행들로 인해, 귀중한 벌 생산물을 종종 망치게 되고, 혹은 거기서 아무것도 얻지 못하게 된다.
