[EU] EU-Japan Energy Dialogue 2025: advancing partnership on the clean energy transition and security of supply |

©AdobStock/Wetzkaz At the latest EU-Japan Energy Dialogue on 16 September 2025, high-level representatives of the European Commission and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry as well as the Agency for Natural Resources met to deepen cooperation on a range of issues vital for clean, secure and affordable energy. Both sides confirmed their commitment to work together to build resilient and reliable supply chains in clean energy sectors such as wind, solar, and hydrogen. The first meeting of the Japan-EU Intergovernmental Gas Dialogue also took place as part of the dialogue. Participants re-affirmed the importance of a resilient natural gas and liquified natural gas (LNG) sector for affordability and security of supply while energy systems progress on decarbonisation. The dialogue comes just 2 months after the EU-Japan Summit and announcement of a new 'Japan-EU Competitiveness Alliance' to deepen cooperation on trade, economic security, innovation and green and digital transitions.
