[한국] Republic of the Philippines and GGGI Sign Funding Agreement for Core Contribution to Advance Green Growth

Seoul, Republic of Korea, June 2, 2025- The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines signed a Funding Agreement, reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing green growth. The Funding Agreement was signed by H.E. Maria Theresa B. Dizon-De Vega, Ambassador of the Philippines to the Republic of Korea, and GGGI Director-General, Sang-Hyup Kim. Under this agreement, the Republic of the Philippines will provide a core contribution to GGGI in 2025.

“The Philippines is proud to make this modest but meaningful contribution to the GGGI’s core funding as a demonstration of our strong support for the Institute’s mission and work. GGGI has been an invaluable partner in helping Filipino communities pursue inclusive, climate-resilient development. Our collaboration has delivered tangible results on the ground, especially in empowering local governments to lead sustainable growth and advance a circular economy. We look forward to continuing this partnership and scaling up efforts that secure a greener, more sustainable future for all Filipinos.”, stated H.E. Maria Theresa B. Dizon-De Vega, Ambassador of the Philippines to the Republic of Korea.

“We warmly welcome the core contribution from the Government of the Republic of the Philippines as a strong symbol of trust and commitment to green growth. As one of our founding members and a regional leader in climate action, we look forward to deepening our partnership in building a green and inclusive future”, emphasized GGGI Director-General Sang-Hyup Kim.

Since 2012, GGGI has supported the Republic of the Philippines in its transition toward climate-resilient and inclusive green growth. With more than a decade of experience in the Philippines, GGGI has built strong cooperation with National Government Agencies (NGAs) and developed expertise in working with Local Government Units (LGUs), delivering impactful projects in areas such as green investment, green jobs, circular economy and sustainable waste management, and green industries.

This core contribution attests to GGGI’s strong, long-standing partnership with the Philippines, and to the country’s commitment to GGGI’s broader mission of supporting low-carbon, climate-resilient development across its Member States.
