Seoul, Republic of Korea, October 27, 2025 – The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the League of Arab States (LAS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to advance sustainable development and green transformation across the Arab region, reinforcing their shared commitment to achieving the goals of the 2030 Agenda and the Paris Agreement.

Under the MoU, GGGI and the League of Arab States will work together to accelerate green growth across Arab nations by launching joint initiatives and projects to advance Member States’ sustainable development goals: 1) mobilizing green finance through innovative instruments, including the MA’AN Initiative, Sustain GCC on Sustainable Finance, and Debt-for-Nature/Climate Swaps, 2) engaging the private sector to leverage technical expertise, capital, and strategic partnerships for green investment, 3) deploying digital technologies and AI solutions to plan, deliver, and monitor green growth outcomes more effectively, 4) building capacity and sharing knowledge to strengthen South-South cooperation, thought leadership, and institutional frameworks at national and local levels, and 5) advancing the Hydrogen for Green Growth (H2G) Initiative with public-private participation to support a just and competitive low-carbon transition.

GGGI is honored to join forces with the League of Arab States to translate our shared vision into tangible action—mobilizing green finance, supporting low-carbon transitions, and strengthening institutional capacities to achieve the goals of the 2030 Agenda and the Paris Agreement. I am confident that our collaboration will continue to grow in scale and impact, and that together, we will help our respective Member Partners translate ambition into action for green, resilient, and inclusive development,” said Sang-Hyup Kim, Director-General at Global Green Growth Institute.

This partnership represents a significant milestone in our efforts to advance sustainable development across the Arab region. Through this collaboration with GGGI, we aim to unlock new opportunities for green investment, innovative financing, and capacity building that will benefit all Arab States,” said H.E. Minister Plenipotentiary Nada El Agizi, Director of the Sustainable Development and International Cooperation Department at the League of Arab States.

The signing ceremony took place at GGGI Headquarters in Seoul, marking the formalization of a partnership grounded in shared values and a common vision for sustainable, inclusive, and resilient growth across the Arab region. Six GGGI Member States—Morocco, Algeria, Qatar, UAE, Jordan, and Bahrain—along with partner country Oman, are also members of the League of Arab States, creating strong foundations for regional collaboration.

H.E. Nada El Agizi brings over three decades of experience in economic and social development to this partnership, having led major regional initiatives including the Regional Initiative on Climate Security, the SDG-Climate Facility Project, and the De-Risking Investment Task Force in the Arab Region.
