Tokyo, Japan March 10, 2025– The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) participated in the Korea-Japan Hydrogen Cooperation event to introduce its efforts in hydrogen to a broad audience in both countries and to invite them to join the Hydrogen to Green Growth (H2G) Initiative. The Director-General Sang-Hyup Kim attended the first day of the event, visiting the Tokyo Tower Hydrogen Refueling Station and participating in the Korea-Japan Parliamentary Roundtable.

GGGI has been preparing for the H2G Initiative, a voluntary global inter-governmental effort to advance policies, programs, and projects that facilitate energy transition. The initiative aims to bring governments, partners, and other potential fund providers together to accelerate the adoption of hydrogen technologies by addressing technical, regulatory, and infrastructure challenges while mobilizing financial resources from investment partners.

Building up on this commitment, Director-General Kim visited the Tokyo Tower Hydrogen, toured the facility, and participated in the briefing and Q&A session. He also joined the Korea-Japan Parliamentary Roundtable, which provided an opportunity to explore future collaboration between Korea and Japan, to share his vision for the H2G initiative, emphasizing hydrogen as a central enabler of the energy transition.

“Through the establishment of the cooperative network between Korea and Japan, both countries can take the lead in expanding the global hydrogen industry by standardizing hydrogen technologies and easing regulations.” Shared a representative.

“While challenges remain, hydrogen is a vital element in the transition to a sustainable future. I believe that the H2G Initiative will be key to unlocking hydrogen’s full potential and can be a platform for spreading Korea-Japan hydrogen cooperation results globally.” Director-General Kim stated at the Korea-Japan Parliamentary Roundtable.

The roundtable was attended by several South Korean and Japanese representatives, including the Chairman of the Japan-Korea Parliamentarians’ Union Joo Ho-young, Co-Chairman of the Hydrogen Economy Forum Lee Jong-bae, Chairman of the Japan-Korea Parliamentarians’ Union and former Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, and Akihisa Nagashima.

Moving forward, GGGI will strengthen its partnership and explore future collaboration opportunities with stakeholders from both countries while reaffirming its commitment to clean hydrogen and the H2G Initiative.

GGGI, 한일 수소 협력을 위한 한일의원연맹 간담회 참석

일본 도쿄, 2025년 3월 10일 – 글로벌녹색성장기구(GGGI)가 한일의원연맹 의원단의 수소협력 네트워크 행사에 참여해 양국을 대상으로 GGGI의 수소 관련 활동 및 ‘Hydrogen to Green Growth (H2G) 이니셔티브’를 소개했다. 김상협 사무총장은 행사 첫날 도쿄 타워 수소 충전소를 방문하고 한일.일한의원연맹 간담회에 참석했다.

GGGI는 ‘H2G 이니셔티브’를 통해 에너지 전환을 촉진하는 정책, 프로그램 및 프로젝트를 발전시키는 자발적 국제 정부 간 협력을 준비해왔다. 이 이니셔티브는 각국 정부, 파트너, 잠재적 투자자를 하나로 모아 기술, 규제, 인프라 문제를 해결하고, 금융 자원을 동원하여 수소 기술의 도입을 가속화하는 것을 목표로 한다.

김 사무총장은 이러한 노력의 일환으로 도쿄 타워 수소 충전소를 방문하여 시설을 둘러보고, 브리핑 및 질의응답 세션에 참석했다. 또한 한일.일한의원연맹 간담회에 참가해 한국과 일본 간 협력의 미래를 논의하고, H2G 이니셔티브의 비전을 공유하며 수소가 에너지 전환의 핵심 요소임을 강조했다.

간담회에 참석한 한 의원은 “한일 협력 네트워크 구축을 통해 양국이 수소 산업 기술의 표준화와 규제 완화를 추진함으로써 글로벌 수소 산업 확대를 선도할 수 있을 것입니다.”라고 밝혔다.

김 사무총장은 “수소는 지속 가능한 미래로 나아가기 위한 핵심 요소입니다. 글로벌녹색성장기구의 H2G 이니셔티브가 수소의 잠재력을 극대화하고, 한일 수소 협력의 성과를 전 세계로 확산하는 중요한 플랫폼이 될 것이라 확신합니다.”라고 간담회에서 강조했다.

이번 행사에는 주호영 국회 부의장 겸 한일의원연맹 회장을 비롯해 이종배 국회수소경제포럼 공동대표의원, 스가 요시히데 전 총리, 나가시마 아키히사 한일의원연맹 간사장 등 여러 한국 및 일본 국회의원이 참석했다.

GGGI는 앞으로도 한일 양국의 이해관계자들과 협력을 강화하고, 수소 및 H2G 이니셔티브에 대한 지속적인 지원과 협력을 확대해 나갈 예정이다.
