Mitigation
(Category Definition) In IPCC Glossary(2012), mitigation is defined as "an anthropogenic intervention to reduce the anthropogenic forcing of the climate system; it includes strategies to reduce greenhouse gas sources and emissions and enhancing greenhouse gas sinks" .
Mitigation is categorized into ‘greenhouse gas mitigation’ and 'greenhouse gas fixing'. ‘Greenhouse gas mitigation’ is divided into 'energy supply', 'energy storage and transportation', and 'energy demand'. -
Adaptation
(Category Definition) In IPCC Glossary (2012), Adaptation is defined as " the process of adjustment to actual or expected climate and its effects".
It includes the overall technology to the environmental, social, and economic risks and effects made by climate change in human and nature system. -
Mitigation/Adaptation Convergence
(Category Definition) It is defined as the action which contributes to greenhouse gas mitigation and prevent climate change induced damage, and the convergence and combined use of multiple mitigation and adaptation technologies.
In IPCC Glossary, there is no separate definition. In the expected emergence of convergence technology with the appearance of new technologies in technological advancement and with interdisciplinary convergence, a new category is created in the way of establishing the Climate Technology Classification System.
